What is Seiketsu?

It is defined as standardization. Standardizing the methods applied in previous tools.

This activity involves making a standardized state that exists when the first three pillars are properly maintained.

Make sure that there is a standardized method to do the first 3 pillars.

    • Once the first three of the 5S’s have been implemented, you should concentrate on standardizing best practice in your work area.

    Allow your employees to participate in the development and documentation of such standards. They are a valuable but often overlooked source of information regarding their work.

    This differs from the first three S’s because this refers not to an activity but to Standardized means:

  • Preventing conditions from reverting back to previous undesirable conditions
  • Continual removal of all items not needed in the work area so that only the needed items remain
  • Maintaining and putting everything in order
  • Cleaning dirt, grime or debris constantly.
